Course Content:
1. Theory class
·Classics reading and learning: the classics related to the practices of Neidan (inner elixir) and Taichi written by our founder master Zhang Sanfeng and his disciples.
·The study of Taoist philosophy, knowledge of Qigong, Theory of Meridians and Collaterals and Theory of Force in order for students to understand the body structures. When the students understand the basis of how the practice works, he/she can practices with a clear mind of why, how and what (the processes and outcomes).
2. Taiji internal kungfu practices
·The three methods of practicing Taichi internal kungfu: stance exercise, sitting meditation and sleeping meditation (the posture and mental process)(to be practice throughout the course and is highly recommended to be continue practicing after students going home).
3. Taiji basic skills
·Taichi basic skills: distinguishes between “lift-descend”, “open-close”, “empty-solid”, horse stance, single-leg stance (crane step), taiji walking. Five steps (bow step, horse step, empty step, crouch step, rest step), hand exercise, waist exercise, guidance (daoyin)
4. Wudang Taiji 36 Steps
·Wudang Taiji 36 is a routine that combines both martial arts and Qigong. It emphasizes stillness over movement, softness over toughness, lightness over heaviness. The movement is like shifting clouds and trickling water, never stopping, never ending, the softness and toughness alternated and implied in it. It opens up the practitioner’s potential and wisdom, fills their energy, strengthens their body, expels disease and lengthens life. It is the ultimate embodiment of Taoist philosophy and an invaluable treasure of the Eastern culture and the quintessence of Chinese martial art.
